Does the job January 2, 2009 Felt Pads, Heavy Duty, Brown - could not find, to link. These go on the bottoms of chair legs to keep them from scratching your floor. Or mine.
I got them to protect the hardwood floor in my workroom. I have a swivel chair, and then two painted wood chairs. They had those stick-in, plastic, go-smooth-and-fast things on the bottoms of the legs, but when you slid them across the floor, they may not have scratched it, but the sound scratched my brain.
So, I removed the hard plastic no-scratch-go-fast things and stuck one of these on each (the stickum on these felt pads, so far, is very good) and zip-zap! all is smooth and quiet, too.
Bonus use: In my living room I have hardwood floors, too, and we have removed the oriental rug and put it someplace else while waiting to decide about a new rug or just let the old newspapers and magazines eventually make a floor covering. But at present, the coffee table is actually really scratching the floor, and though it doesn't have legs so much as runners, it dawned on me these felt pads might work.
They DO! I used four: two on each runner towards the ends. They raise the table a bit, not enough to notice while sitting, but these pads are pretty thick, so you can see a sliver of daylight between runner and floor. I do not care though, because a temporarily seen sliver of daylight beats the heck out of a permanently scraped floor.
Of course, since it took me so long to figure this out, I actually have both. Scrapes, and that sliver of daylight which no one else would notice, anyway.
They are durable, very dark brown so if that matters to you, put them out of sight.
